† Sense check: value is far outside the vertical's norm — usually a small-sample or data-entry artifact on the network side. Verify in the network dashboard before relying on it.

The hunting and fishing affiliate market is a study in contrasts. On one side: a handful of respected specialist brands — Simms, KUIU, Badlands — that convert well and generate EPCs well above the vertical median of $0.17. On the other: a sprawling field of 440 program listings across nine networks, of which 22% publish no performance data at all. That ghost rate is among the highest we have measured across any outdoor vertical, and it matters: it means that for the majority of programs in this space, an affiliate has no reliable basis for projecting returns before committing content budget.

Our analysis cuts through both problems. We surface the 157 programs that do report positive EPC figures, rank them by a composite of EPC, data completeness and reversal risk, and then examine the cross-network picture — because several top brands run on three or more networks simultaneously with meaningfully different commission rates. The average commission across programs that disclose it is 6.5%, higher than most travel and retail verticals. That figure is real, but it sits alongside a median EPC of only $0.17, which tells you that high rates do not automatically translate to high earnings in a category where average basket sizes are modest and session conversion rates can be thin.

The sub-categories here span a wide range of content types and, crucially, regulatory risk tolerance. Fishing tackle, hunting apparel and outdoor survival gear carry no platform restrictions for most publishers. Firearms, ammunition and tactical components are a different matter: several major ad networks prohibit or restrict this content, and publishers should verify their specific platform policies before building content around programs such as GrabAGun, Ballistic Advantage or Palmetto State Armory. We have included these programs in the data because they are legally traded affiliate offers, but we note the restriction question plainly.

Simms Fishing Products holds the top EPC in this vertical at $2.70 on Impact — a figure that is notable because the same brand offers 10% commission on Avantlink, five times the 2% rate Impact reports. The Bozeman, Montana brand is the dominant name in premium fly-fishing waders and outerwear, with a customer base that skews toward high-income anglers who replace gear infrequently but spend substantially when they do. That purchasing profile — considered, infrequent, high-value — is consistent with an EPC driven by average basket rather than conversion volume.

The absence of conversion rate, reversal rate and basket data from Impact makes it impossible to verify the EPC figure independently. Given that Avantlink offers a commission five times larger without any published EPC, affiliates with established fly-fishing content should strongly consider testing Avantlink before defaulting to Impact. The $2.70 EPC on Impact is the highest verifiable figure in the database for this vertical, but the richer commission on Avantlink could outperform it materially if conversion rates are comparable.

Best for: Fly-fishing content sites, waders and gear review channels, premium outdoors bloggers

FishUSA is the second-highest EPC program in the vertical at $2.57 on FlexOffers, with a 4% commission rate. The company is a US fishing specialist — rods, reels, lures, line, and tackle — serving anglers through a competitive online pricing model with fast shipping. The $2.57 EPC on a 4% commission implies an average effective basket somewhere in the region of $64 per converting click, which is consistent with a retailer where cart values are built across multiple smaller items rather than a single high-ticket purchase.

FlexOffers does not surface conversion rate or reversal data for FishUSA, which limits analysis. The brand is listed only on FlexOffers in our database, so there is no cross-network comparison available. Given the clean, mid-tier commission and the second-highest EPC in the vertical, FishUSA is a strong candidate for fishing-focused sites that generate consistent US traffic. The absence of cookie data is a risk worth acknowledging: if attribution uses a session window rather than a multi-day cookie, late-session conversions may not be credited.

Best for: US fishing tackle content sites, gear comparison pages, angling YouTube channels

KUIU is one of the most recognised brands in technical hunting apparel, with a direct-to-consumer model that commands premium prices and generates loyal repeat customers. The $1.62 EPC on Impact is backed by a 5% commission — five times the 1% rate Impact reports for Bass Pro Shops. Avantlink lists KUIU at 3%, making Impact the better commission rate for this brand by two percentage points. The product range — base layers, packs, insulation, camouflage systems — serves serious backcountry hunters who spend several hundred dollars per transaction.

No conversion rate, reversal or basket data is available from either network, which means the EPC figure must be treated as a directional signal rather than a verified compound metric. For affiliates publishing backcountry hunting content — elk, mule deer, mountain goat — KUIU is the most natural brand alignment in the database. The combination of a strong EPC figure and a higher-than-median commission rate (5% on Impact versus the vertical average of 6.5%) places it firmly in the upper tier for content creators who can credibly reach the premium hunting audience.

Best for: Backcountry hunting blogs, elk and big-game content, western hunting YouTube channels

Badlands Gear is the best-documented program in the top ten. Skimlinks surfaces a full set of performance metrics: 15% commission, 2.63% conversion rate, 2.0% reversal rate, $98.73 average basket, and an 11-day cookie. Working through the arithmetic: a 15% commission on a $98.73 basket yields $14.81 per sale. At a 2.63% conversion rate, that generates $0.39 of expected earnings per click — which matches the reported EPC precisely. This internal consistency is a strong signal that the Skimlinks data is reliable rather than an artefact of thin sample size. The 2.0% reversal rate is among the lowest in the vertical, adding further confidence.

Badlands specialises in hunting packs, daypacks and technical hunting accessories with a 25-year track record. The 15% commission is the highest among the well-documented programs in our top ten, and the 11-day cookie sits below the vertical average of 21 days. FlexOffers lists Badlands at 12% with no performance data. For affiliates choosing between networks, Skimlinks is the clear preference here: higher commission, longer cookie, and full visibility into performance metrics to enable campaign optimisation.

Best for: Hunting pack and gear reviewers, backcountry content, comparison sites covering technical hunting accessories

GrabAGun is a firearms and ammunition retailer with the highest average basket among the programs reviewed here at $305.02. A 3% commission on that basket yields approximately $9.15 per sale. The reported 17.4% conversion rate drives a $1.59 EPC, which checks out mathematically. The data signal is internally consistent. However, the 7.1% reversal rate is the highest among the fully-documented programs in our top ten, and on a high-ticket category like firearms, reversals are worth tracking closely: a single reversal on a $305 basket erases the commission from roughly two and a half other sales.

Publishers should be aware of the platform restrictions that apply to firearms retailers. GrabAGun sells legal firearms, but content promoting such programs is restricted or prohibited on several major ad networks and display platforms. Affiliates running general-audience sites should verify their platform terms before building content around this program. For publishers who already operate in the firearms or tactical content space and have already navigated those restrictions, GrabAGun's high basket size and conversion rate make it one of the more mathematically attractive programs in the database.

Best for: Firearms-specialist content sites, gun deal aggregators, shooting sports bloggers (subject to platform policy)

Ballistic Advantage makes precision AR-15 barrels and components for the shooting sports and custom-build market. Its Skimlinks data is notable for a solid 12.45% conversion rate on a 7% commission, which together drive a $0.94 EPC. That combination — steady conversion on a mid-priced basket — typically signals a tight audience match: the visitors arriving at Ballistic Advantage are specialists who know what they want and complete their purchase.

Avantlink also lists Ballistic Advantage at the same 7% commission rate, so there is no commission-rate incentive to prefer one network over the other. The Skimlinks listing has the advantage of surfacing full performance data; Avantlink does not report EPC for this program. The 29-day cookie is at the longer end of the range for this vertical. As with all firearms-adjacent programs, publishers should confirm their platform terms before promoting. For those operating in the gun-build and AR-platform content space, the data here is among the cleanest and most reassuring in the database.

Best for: AR-platform build guides, firearm component review sites, precision shooting content

Mystery Tackle Box is a curated fishing tackle subscription service — each monthly box is assembled by fishing experts and aimed at anglers who want to discover new lures and gear without researching every product individually. The Skimlinks data shows 14.3% commission and a 7.47% conversion rate across a 13-day cookie window. The subscription structure is telling for a product like this: once subscribers sign up, they stay, and repeat billing underpins the lifetime value.

The subscription model creates a structural advantage over one-off retail programs: a single referred subscriber generates recurring revenue, though the affiliate is paid on the initial conversion value at the 14.3% rate. Awin also lists Mystery Tackle Box US at a 30-day cookie with a reported 5.16% conversion rate — lower than Skimlinks' 7.47%, though without commission rate data from Awin, a full comparison is not possible. Skimlinks is the preferred network on the available evidence, given its richer data and the internally consistent EPC figure.

Best for: Fishing gift guides, subscription-box review sites, bass and freshwater fishing content

The MeatEater Store is the merchandise and gear arm of the MeatEater media brand — the hunting and wild-food content empire built around Steven Rinella, whose podcast, television show and books reach millions of hunters across the US. The brand recognition among the hunting audience is substantial. Our database does not currently surface EPC or commission data for this program, so its performance cannot be verified directly.

The absence of published performance data limits analysis, but the store is driven partly by branded merchandise (clothing, accessories) alongside First Lite performance hunting apparel. For affiliates who already publish hunting or wild-game content and have an audience familiar with the MeatEater brand, this program is a natural fit, though its terms should be confirmed inside the network before committing content budget.

Best for: Hunting lifestyle content, wild-food and game-cooking blogs, MeatEater podcast audience sites

What About Cabela's, Bass Pro, Rapala, and Orvis?

The largest retail names in hunting and fishing are present in our database, but their affiliate terms tell a different story from their retail dominance. Cabela's appears on FlexOffers with an EPC of $0.14 and a 1.6% commission. Bass Pro Shops reports $0.37 on Impact at 1.0% commission, and $0.53 on Skimlinks (via the combined Bass Pro Shops & Cabela's Canada listing) at 4% commission and a 7-day cookie. The gap between the 4% Skimlinks rate and the 1.0% Impact rate for effectively the same brand is notable: affiliates promoting Bass Pro content should check which network listing applies to their audience geography before committing to a single network.

Rapala — the Finnish lure manufacturer that is arguably the best-known brand name in fishing globally — appears in our database on CJ with a $0.32 EPC and 4% commission. No conversion rate or basket data is published. For a brand whose lures are stocked in tackle shops worldwide, the absence of deeper performance data is typical of an older-style affiliate relationship where the network does not surface click-level analytics. Orvis, the fly-fishing and hunting lifestyle brand known for its rods, waders and retail stores, is not present in our database with verifiable EPC data, which means its program cannot be ranked.

Sportsman's Warehouse — a major US big-box outdoor retailer — appears on CJ with an EPC of $0.21 and a 3.0% commission. This confirms the pattern that large retailers in this category offer lower commissions and lower EPCs than specialist brands: Sportsman's Warehouse at $0.21 EPC versus Badlands Gear at $0.39 or Mystery Tackle Box at $0.73. Volume-focused affiliates may find the big-box programs useful for broad product coverage, but the data consistently favours specialist programs for per-click earnings.

Same Brand, Different Networks: Where to Get the Best Deal

Several of the strongest hunting and fishing brands operate programs on three or more networks simultaneously, with meaningfully different commission rates and — where data exists — different EPC figures. Choosing the right network for a given brand is one of the simplest optimisations available to an experienced affiliate in this vertical.

Data Insights

Hunting & Fishing Affiliate Programs: What the Data Shows

The most striking figure in this dataset is the ghost rate. At 22%, roughly one in five program listings in the hunting and fishing vertical publish no performance data — no EPC, no conversion rate, no reversal rate. This is broadly in line with the ghost rates we observe in travel and most consumer-retail verticals. The likely explanation is the concentration of programs on Avantlink, which is the dominant specialist network for outdoor brands but does not surface EPC data in the same granular way that Skimlinks does. Affiliates accustomed to working with full performance data sets will find this vertical requires more test-and-learn patience than most.

Data Insight: Skimlinks vs. the Rest

Of the 157 programs reporting positive EPC in our database, Skimlinks provides conversion rate, reversal rate and average basket for a significant share. Impact and FlexOffers report EPC and commission but rarely surface the underlying conversion metrics. For affiliates who want to monitor reversal rates and basket trends — not just a top-line EPC — Skimlinks is the most information-rich network in this vertical. Programs listed only on Avantlink are effectively opaque from a performance-data standpoint.

A second pattern concerns the inverse relationship between commission rate and EPC for large retailers. Bass Pro Shops on Impact offers a 1% commission and a $0.37 EPC. The same brand on Skimlinks (Canada joint listing) offers 4% and a $0.53 EPC. Cabela's on FlexOffers pays 1.6% and reports a $0.14 EPC. In contrast, Badlands Gear on Skimlinks pays 15% and generates a $0.39 EPC. The implication is clear: specialist brands with premium positioning convert better and pay higher commissions than the big-box retailers, while the big retailers rely on volume and brand trust rather than affiliate economics to drive traffic. For a content publisher with a targeted audience, specialist programs deliver better affiliate mathematics.

Data Insight: Reversal Traps to Watch

Three programs in the top-80 EPC-ranked listings show reversal rates that warrant specific attention. Piscifun (Skimlinks) reports 49.6% reversal on a 7.5% commission — meaning about half of all sales are clawed back. Kifaru shows 18.4% reversal on a 2.3% commission, which at those levels is a serious drag on net earnings. Most concerning is Eposeidon Outdoor Adventure on Skimlinks, which reports a 26.2% reversal rate — effectively voiding about a quarter of nominal commissions. Affiliates should verify these figures in their own network dashboards before promoting these programs at scale.

Cookie duration in this vertical clusters around the 20–30 day range for programs that report it, but many of the highest-EPC programs — Simms, FishUSA, KUIU, The MeatEater Store — disclose no cookie at all. Session-based or undisclosed attribution is common on Impact and FlexOffers for this category. The 21-day vertical average masks the reality that a meaningful share of programs may be using session windows, which disadvantages affiliates whose content drives research-phase traffic rather than immediate purchase traffic. Programs on Skimlinks consistently report a cookie, making them more predictable for campaign planning.

How to Choose a Hunting & Fishing Affiliate Program

Start by matching the program to your audience's sub-niche. Fly-fishing content drives Simms; backcountry big-game content drives KUIU and Badlands; freshwater lure fishing drives Mystery Tackle Box and FishUSA. The vertical average EPC is $0.33, but the range is wide — from $0.01 to $2.70 among reporting programs — and the divergence is almost entirely explained by audience specificity rather than by commission rate differences. A hunting pack reviewer sending intent-rich traffic to Badlands at 15% commission will outperform a general outdoors site sending broad traffic to Sportsman's Warehouse at 3%, regardless of volume.

Second, look carefully at the reversal rate before committing to a program. In a vertical where 22% of programs publish no performance data at all, the programs that do report reversal rates give you a genuine edge. Badlands (2.0%) shows a clean reversal record. Contrast that with Piscifun at 49.6%, Kifaru at 18.4%, and Eposeidon at 26.2%. At high reversal rates, the nominal commission rate on a program is largely academic — the net commission after clawbacks may be a small fraction of what the network headline suggests.

Third, account for the firearms and tactical sub-category carefully. Programs covering guns, ammunition and tactical components are legal affiliate offers, but they are subject to restrictions on many mainstream ad platforms and some hosting environments. If your site monetises partly through display ads — particularly Google AdSense or similar networks — verify that your ad network's content policy permits firearms-adjacent content before building articles that also contain affiliate links to GrabAGun or Palmetto State Armory. The collision of restricted advertising policy with affiliate content is an operational risk that many publishers underestimate.

Finally, consider the network selection decision. For this vertical specifically, Skimlinks provides the most transparent performance data. If you have access to Skimlinks and a program is listed there with a positive EPC, prefer that listing over an equivalent Avantlink or Impact listing unless the commission differential is substantial. The ability to monitor reversal rate and average basket through Skimlinks data is worth more, in most cases, than the marginal commission difference between networks — particularly when you are scaling content investment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best fishing affiliate programs?

Based on our database of 265 programs across 9 networks, the top performers by EPC are Simms Fishing Products ($2.70 on Impact), FishUSA ($2.57 on FlexOffers), and Mystery Tackle Box US ($0.73 on Skimlinks). Simms targets the premium fly-fishing segment; FishUSA covers the broader US fishing tackle market; Mystery Tackle Box is a subscription model with a 7.47% conversion rate on Skimlinks. For fishing-specific content creators, each serves a different audience and content style.

How much commission do hunting and fishing affiliate programs pay?

Across the 440 program listings in our database, the average commission rate among those that disclose it is 6.5%. Individual rates range from 1% (Bass Pro Shops on Impact) to 15% (Badlands Gear on Skimlinks). A high commission rate alone does not predict a high EPC: Badlands at 15% generates $0.39 EPC, because basket size and conversion rate matter as much as the headline rate.

What is the ghost rate for hunting and fishing programs?

22% of the 440 hunting and fishing program listings in our database report no EPC, conversion rate or reversal rate. This is among the highest ghost rates we have measured. Many outdoor brands are concentrated on Avantlink, which does not surface granular performance data in network API feeds. Affiliates should treat any program without EPC data as unverified and run a traffic test before committing significant content resources to promotion.

Are firearms and ammunition programs suitable for all affiliate publishers?

Firearms and ammunition programs are legal affiliate offers, but they carry platform risk. Google AdSense, several display ad networks, and some web hosting providers restrict or prohibit firearms-adjacent content. Publishers running general-audience sites should verify their ad network's content policy before building content around programs such as GrabAGun, Ballistic Advantage or Palmetto State Armory. Hunting apparel, fishing tackle and outdoor survival gear carry no such restrictions for most publishers.

Which network gives the best terms for Simms Fishing Products?

Simms runs on three networks. Avantlink offers 10% commission with no published EPC; Impact offers 2% commission with a reported $2.70 EPC; Mavely offers 7% commission with no published EPC. On commission rate alone, Avantlink wins by five times. The EPC figure on Impact is the only available conversion signal, but a 2% commission on Impact implies Avantlink would need to deliver substantially lower effective conversion to underperform on net earnings. Affiliates with established fly-fishing audiences should test Avantlink first, then benchmark results against Impact.

What cookie length should I expect from hunting and fishing programs?

Among the 157 programs reporting positive EPC, the average cookie duration is 21 days. Many high-EPC programs — including Simms, KUIU, FishUSA and The MeatEater Store — report no cookie duration, suggesting session-only or undisclosed attribution. The longest cookies in the database for this vertical are 30 days, seen on programs such as Mystery Tackle Box US on Awin. Programs on Skimlinks consistently report a cookie duration; programs on Impact and FlexOffers frequently do not.

Methodology

This analysis covers 440 hunting & fishing affiliate program listings tracked across 9 networks including Skimlinks, Impact, FlexOffers, Avantlink, CJ, Awin, Mavely, Rakuten, and others. Performance data (EPC, conversion rate, reversal rate) is pulled from network APIs and updated regularly. Commission rates reflect default publisher tiers — negotiated rates may differ. Programs with no performance data ("ghost programs") are included in total counts but excluded from averages. The ghost rate of 22% is calculated as the share of all listings with a null or zero EPC.
