Best VPN & Security Affiliate Programs 2026: Data-Driven Rankings
The VPN and security software vertical is one of the most affiliate-saturated corners of the internet, dominated in search results by NordVPN and Surfshark promotional content. Our database tells a more complicated story. Across 235 program listings from 98 brands on nine networks, the average earnings per click among the 108 programs that publish any EPC data is $1.63 — but that figure is dragged upward by a handful of outliers. The median positive EPC is $0.32. More than half the listings (54.0%) publish no performance data at all.
Commission rates are the category’s headline number, and they are genuinely high: an average of 34.2% across programs that report one, reflecting the near-zero marginal cost of delivering a software subscription. But a 58% commission on a $43 average basket (NordVPN on Skimlinks) is roughly a $25 commission per conversion. At a sub-1% conversion rate on that network, the actual EPC is $0.09. The math matters, and the two numbers most publishers quote — commission rate and brand recognition — are often the least predictive of real earnings. This report works through the numbers that are.
Best VPN & Security Affiliate Programs by EPC
The table below ranks the top 10 programs by a composite of EPC, data completeness, and commission reliability. Programs with only one data point (EPC, no conversion or commission detail) are ranked lower than programs with corroborating metrics, all else being equal. Flag-flagged entries carry high EPCs but thin click samples — treat them as indicative, not settled.

VPN & Security Affiliate Programs: In-Depth Analysis
PureVPN
ImpactPureVPN is the highest-EPC program in our database for this vertical on Impact, reporting $35.87. That figure demands immediate scrutiny: the vertical’s median positive EPC is $0.32, making PureVPN’s Impact number more than 100 times higher. Impact does not report conversion rate or basket size for this listing, which removes the ability to cross-check the EPC through its components. The same brand on Skimlinks — where conversion data is published — shows a $0.03 EPC on a 0.26% conversion rate and a $51 average basket. That back-calculation at 25% commission would produce roughly $0.03–0.04 per click, suggesting the Impact figure reflects either a very small, high-value click sample or a campaign-period spike. The 25% commission on Impact compares to 40% on CJ, making the cross-network commission disparity as notable as the EPC anomaly.
PureVPN operates over 6,000 servers in 78 countries and is a legitimate, well-distributed product. Affiliates already driving traffic in the VPN comparison space may find the brand converts adequately. The sensible approach is to treat the Impact EPC as an outlier, base forecasts on the Skimlinks-derived $0.03–0.04 range, and monitor actual dashboard EPC after the first 500 clicks. The CJ listing at 40% commission may offer better verified returns if that network’s $0.10 EPC on a larger sample proves stable.
Incogni
ImpactIncogni is a data-broker opt-out service — it automates the removal of a subscriber’s personal data from people-search databases and data brokers. The product has a clear, recurring-subscription model (subscribers pay annually to maintain ongoing removal requests), which explains why it can support a 40% commission on Impact. The reported $30.79 EPC is an outlier by the same standard that flags PureVPN; Impact does not provide conversion rate or basket size for this listing. The CJ listing for the same brand shows a $0.80 EPC with no conversion detail, and the FlexOffers listing shows $0.46. Those secondary listings suggest real-world performance well below the Impact headline number. CJ also publishes a flat $30 per sale structure, which is useful for projecting earnings independently of the basket-size unknown.
Incogni is produced by Surfshark’s parent company, which gives it stronger distribution and brand credibility than its “Unknown” brand recognition score might imply. Privacy and data-removal content is a growing editorial niche; publishers covering GDPR compliance, identity theft, or consumer data rights are well positioned to convert Incogni offers. The 40% commission rate on a subscription product with genuine renewal economics makes this one worth testing, with realistic EPC expectations set from the CJ baseline rather than the Impact outlier.
Kaspersky (multi-region)
CJAwinKaspersky runs more than 20 separate program listings across CJ and Awin, segmented by geography. The Australia & New Zealand listing on CJ leads at an $18.18 EPC, which, like the top two entries, carries an outlier flag. The most interpretable data comes from Awin, where country-level conversion rates are available. Kaspersky Brazil on Awin converts at 8.9% with a 60-day cookie; Kaspersky Sweden at 4.2% with 30 days; Kaspersky Denmark at 66.7% — that Danish figure almost certainly reflects three or four clicks. The CJ listings universally report a 20% commission for most regions and 30% for the UK, underpinned by an “advanced sale” structure that confirms these are genuine tracked transactions, not a rate placeholder.
Kaspersky’s affiliate story is complicated by the UK government’s 2023 advisory against using Kaspersky software on sensitive systems, and by ongoing geopolitical scrutiny of Russian-origin software. Those concerns have not eliminated consumer demand, but they are a material editorial consideration: publishers covering government or enterprise IT should review their audience context before promoting Kaspersky. For personal antivirus content aimed at home users in continental Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific, the conversion data from Awin suggests the brand still performs. The best-available network for most European geographies is Awin, where the 30-day cookie and the presence of conversion rate data allow proper campaign modelling.
NordVPN
ImpactAwinCJNordVPN is the best-documented program in this vertical. It publishes listings across six networks, giving an unusually complete picture. On Impact, the highest EPC is $3.53 with a 40% commission (new customer sales) and 30% for NordPass and NordProtect add-ons. On Awin (US & CA), the confirmed EPC is $1.06 with a 3.4% conversion rate and a 30-day cookie. On Skimlinks, where basket data is published, the average order is $43.35 with a 0.34% conversion rate and a 6.1% reversal rate — the latter is a genuine cost of doing business to factor in. The 12-day cookie on Skimlinks is notably shorter than Awin’s 30 days. CJ reports $1.42 EPC with a 40% new-subscription rate.
Taking the Awin US & CA listing as the most reliable single data point: 3.4% conversion, 40% commission, 30-day cookie. At an estimated $40–$50 average basket (consistent with the Skimlinks-reported $43), that implies a commission of roughly $16–$20 per conversion and an EPC in the $0.55–$0.68 range — which broadly reconciles with the Awin-reported $1.06 EPC on that listing’s specific traffic mix. NordVPN’s wide network presence means competition for placement is high; the meaningful differentiator is audience quality rather than program selection.
Surfshark
ImpactAwinSkimlinksSurfshark operates on six networks, with similar structural terms to NordVPN: 40% commission, 30-day cookie on Awin. Its Impact EPC of $6.00 is flagged as a likely small-sample figure. The more grounded number is the Skimlinks listing: $0.41 EPC, 1.3% conversion, a $40.65 average basket, and — the detail that most matters — a 10.3% reversal rate. That reversal rate is the highest among the top programs with corroborating data. On a $40 basket at 80% commission, a 10.3% reversal removes roughly $3.30 from every $32 earned in gross commissions. This is not a disqualifying figure, but it is materially higher than NordVPN’s 6.1% reversal on Skimlinks, and it should be modelled explicitly in campaign forecasts.
Surfshark has expanded beyond VPN into antivirus and alert products, positioning it as a broader security suite. Affiliates promoting Surfshark One (the bundled offering) may see higher basket sizes than the Skimlinks average suggests, since the Skimlinks data reflects the full traffic mix including VPN-only subscriptions. The Awin DACH listings (DE and AT) show 2.5% conversion at a $0.68 EPC, which is a reliable floor for German-speaking audiences. FlexOffers reports $0.67 EPC at 40% commission, providing a consistent third-party corroboration at the lower end.
Abine / DeleteMe
SkimlinksAbine operates DeleteMe, a data-broker removal subscription priced well above most VPN products. The $125.63 average basket is among the highest in this vertical with confirmed transaction data — three to four times the typical VPN basket. At 17.9% commission, each average conversion generates roughly $22.50. The 5.7% conversion rate on Skimlinks is creditable, and the 0.3% reversal rate is the lowest figure in the entire vertical for any program with reported reversal data. Both numbers suggest a product that converts at the moment of intent and rarely gets cancelled before the tracking window closes.
The one-day cookie is the program’s significant liability. A visitor who does not convert within 24 hours of the affiliate click generates no commission. DeleteMe is a considered purchase for most consumers — they may research it, leave, and return days later. Affiliates relying on organic search traffic with multi-session research journeys will lose a material share of attributable conversions. The program is best suited to direct-response content where the call to action is immediate: “remove your data today” articles, breach-news reactive posts, and email campaigns where the subscriber is primed to act. DeleteMe on CJ reports a $2.53 EPC with a flat $30 per-sale structure, which implies a higher-converting traffic source on that network; it warrants a direct comparison test.
ESET NL
AwinNLESET Netherlands on Awin is the best-performing ESET listing in our database with a full complement of core metrics. The 6.4% conversion rate is high for an antivirus product and suggests either a well-targeted traffic base or strong brand preference among Dutch consumers — ESET has significant market penetration in Central and Western Europe. The 45-day cookie is the longest offered by any top-10 program with clean data, giving affiliates 50% more attribution window than the 30-day Awin standard. At 30% commission on a typical ESET personal-subscription price of around €40–60 per year, the implied commission per conversion is €12–18.
ESET runs programs across five networks and multiple geographies. The North America CJ listing shows a $0.57 EPC at a 16.7% commission, and the Skimlinks North America listing shows $0.10 EPC with a $155.95 average basket — a notably higher basket size that may reflect business or multi-device purchases. ESET DACH on Awin offers 15% commission with a $0.34 EPC and 3.3% conversion, confirming that the NL listing’s 30% commission is a geo-specific premium. Publishers with Dutch-language audiences should prioritise the Awin NL listing; those covering the DACH market should note the lower commission tier before projecting earnings.
IObit
SkimlinksIObit surfaces a striking 9.3% conversion rate on Skimlinks, which falls above the 25% threshold for automatic flagging but is still far outside the vertical’s typical 1–4% range. The 0.0% reversal rate is genuine: IObit sells low-cost software utilities (System Care, Driver Booster, Malware Fighter), and their $14.29 average basket reflects these sub-premium price points. At 60% commission, the average per-conversion earning is approximately $8.57. The EPC of $0.80, while modest, is produced by real transaction volume and corroborated by an Impact listing at $0.39 EPC with a 60% commission, which is consistent.
IObit is a utility software publisher rather than a security specialist in the traditional sense; its products overlap with the category through malware scanning and system optimisation. Publishers covering Windows PC performance, software deals, or budget security tools will find the category fit strongest. The low basket size means that volume is everything: IObit works for sites with high organic traffic in the PC-optimisation or free-software space. The FlexOffers listing at $0.0086 EPC (56% commission) is an outlier low that suggests very different traffic quality across networks; Skimlinks is the clear preferred network based on performance data.
High-Potential Programs with Thin Data
Several programs appear above the vertical median EPC but lack the corroborating conversion and basket data needed for a full review. Kaspersky EU on CJ reports a $4.47 EPC at 20% commission. DeleteMe on CJ shows $2.53 EPC with a confirmed flat $30 per-sale payout — the most transparent earnings structure in the category. McAfee on Impact reports $2.15 EPC with a flat $10–$30 per product purchase, depending on product type. AngelVPN on Impact reports $2.09 EPC at a 40%–80% commission range on subscriptions. Each warrants testing; none has sufficient data for a ranked review position.
What About Norton, McAfee, Avast, and Bitdefender?
The household names in security software are present in our database but mostly on the opaque end of the data spectrum. Their brand recognition drives click volumes that would satisfy any publisher’s conversion anxiety, but the actual performance numbers are thinner than the marketing promises.
Norton (NortonStore) appears as a Skimlinks ghost — the listing exists but publishes no EPC, commission, or conversion data. The Japanese NortonStore Skimlinks listing is similarly blank. Norton’s parent company Gen Digital also owns Avast and AVG, both of which do publish some data. AVG Technologies on CJ shows a $0.41 EPC at 30% commission; the Skimlinks listing confirms $0.11 EPC with a 1.0% conversion and $40 average basket. Avira on CJ reports $0.28 at 30% commission; the Skimlinks listing shows $0.06 EPC with an 18% reversal rate — the latter is a significant drag on earnings that is not visible from the commission rate alone.
McAfee appears across four listings (Impact, CJ North America, CJ EMEA, CJ APAC, and a Skimlinks listing). The Impact listing reports $2.15 EPC with flat commissions of $10–$30 per product purchase. The Skimlinks listing tells a different story: $0.01 EPC, a 0.07% conversion rate, and a 50% reversal rate on a $43.66 average basket. McAfee is a household name that converts at a household-brand rate; the 50% Skimlinks reversal rate suggests that a large proportion of tracked clicks reach the site but do not result in settled transactions, possibly due to free-trial-to-paid conversion losses within the attribution window.
Bitdefender does provide usable data. The Impact listing shows $0.88 EPC at 10% commission. Awin Germany reports $0.60 EPC with a 4.0% conversion rate and a 30-day cookie at 30% commission — a materially better commission than Impact for the same brand. The Skimlinks listing shows a 37% reversal rate, however, which is the highest confirmed reversal in the vertical. Bitdefender is worth promoting on Awin Germany if the audience fits; the Skimlinks listing should be treated with caution.
Proton (ProtonVPN/ProtonMail) is present on CJ with a 65% commission and a $0.34 EPC, making it one of the most generous commission structures in the database. No basket or conversion data is available, and the combined VPN+mail product complicates audience targeting compared with a pure-VPN offer. Proton’s strong privacy-first brand story is a natural fit for editorial content covering surveillance, journalism tools, and digital rights.

VPN & Security Affiliate Programs: What the Data Shows
The most useful framing for this vertical is that commission rates and EPC are almost completely uncorrelated. PrivateVPN on CJ advertises a 75% commission — the highest in the database — yet its EPC is $0.57. Proton on CJ offers 65% and returns $0.34. IObit offers 60% on Skimlinks and returns $0.80 on a $14 basket. Meanwhile, Kaspersky on CJ offers 20% across most regions and produces EPCs between $2.58 and $18.18. The commission rate reflects the merchant’s marginal cost of delivering a digital subscription; it has little bearing on how many clicks convert or at what order value.
The ghost rate of 54.0% is the vertical’s second most important fact. More than half the active program listings in our database publish no EPC or conversion data. Impact and CJ are the main contributors to this opacity for the big consumer brands: NordVPN, Surfshark, PureVPN, and McAfee all have Impact listings with EPC figures but no conversion rate or basket data that would allow independent verification. The only networks providing complete conversion-plus-basket data in this category are Skimlinks and, to a lesser extent, Awin. If you are building a campaign around a program that only exists on Impact or CJ, you are working with one data point, not a picture.
Data Insight: The Reversal Trap
Three programs with confirmed Skimlinks data carry reversal rates above 10%: Bitdefender at 37.0%, Veepn.com at 25.9%, and Surfshark at 10.3%. For a program at 40% commission on a $40 basket, a 37% reversal rate reduces effective earnings by $5.92 per gross conversion — from $16.00 to $10.08. Reversal rates are rarely surfaced in affiliate programme marketing materials but are visible on Skimlinks for publishers who check. For any high-volume campaign in this vertical, the reversal rate deserves equal weight to the commission rate.
Data Insight: Cookie Compression on Major Networks
Skimlinks runs shorter cookies than Awin for the same brands. NordVPN: 12 days on Skimlinks versus 30 on Awin. Surfshark: 12 days on Skimlinks versus 30 on Awin. Bitdefender: 28 days on Skimlinks versus 30 on Awin. CyberGhost: 20 days on Skimlinks. The shorter attribution window compresses EPC on Skimlinks relative to Awin even where the underlying product and commission rate are similar. This is a structural factor that explains part of the EPC gap between networks for identical brands, and it means raw EPC cross-network comparisons understate the Awin advantage.
The basket-size distribution is unusual for a software vertical: it is bimodal. Consumer VPN subscriptions cluster around $30–$55 per year (NordVPN $43, Surfshark $41, CyberGhost $37, Veepn.com $30). Privacy-removal services and enterprise-adjacent products cluster much higher: Abine/DeleteMe at $126, ESET North America on Skimlinks at $156, Emsisoft at $271, and iubenda’s many-GEO Skimlinks listing at $171. Publishers can optimise for volume (consumer VPN) or value per conversion (privacy services), but the two segments require distinct content strategies and audience intents.
How to Choose a VPN & Security Affiliate Program
The first filter should be network transparency. If a program does not publish EPC data on the network where you would promote it, you have no empirical basis for a traffic allocation decision. Request a test period, or find the same brand on Awin or Skimlinks where conversion data is typically available. In this vertical, the data gap between networks is wide enough to change the conclusion.
Second, check the reversal rate before forecasting earnings. In the hotel vertical, reversals reflect cancelled bookings. In security software, they most often reflect chargebacks, free-trial conversions that do not progress to paid, and customers who cancel within a refund window. Bitdefender’s 37% reversal on Skimlinks, Veepn.com’s 25.9%, and Surfshark’s 10.3% are not hypothetical risks — they are observed rates in the database. A simple reversal-adjusted earnings model: (commission rate × avg basket × conversion rate × (1 − reversal rate)) gives a truer per-click estimate than the raw EPC alone.
Third, match the product to the audience’s purchase horizon. VPN subscriptions are impulse-adjacent purchases — a reader of a “best VPN” article is often ready to buy the same session. A 30-day cookie is sufficient. Privacy-removal services like DeleteMe and Incogni require more consideration; a one-day cookie (Abine on Skimlinks) will miss a large share of the eventual converters. For those products, look for CJ or direct-program arrangements with longer attribution windows, or focus on email traffic where you control the re-contact cadence.
Finally, treat the commission rate as a ceiling, not a return estimate. The gap between 75% (PrivateVPN) and 20% (Kaspersky) in commission rate bears almost no relationship to actual per-click earnings. The EPC on the higher-commission programme is lower. The product that converts — at a reasonable basket size, with a manageable reversal rate, on a network that provides the data to verify all of the above — is always preferable to the programme with the most impressive commission percentage in the marketing email.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best VPN affiliate programs?
By EPC, the strongest performers in our database are PureVPN on Impact ($35.87), Incogni on Impact ($30.79), and Kaspersky ANZ on CJ ($18.18). All three carry outlier flags for small click samples. Among programs with fuller conversion data, NordVPN on Awin (US & CA) at $1.06 EPC with a 3.4% conversion rate and a 40% commission offers the best combination of reliability and transparency. Abine/DeleteMe on Skimlinks at $1.28 EPC, 5.7% conversion, and a 0.3% reversal rate is the most complete verified data point in the category.
How much commission do VPN affiliate programs pay?
Across the 235 listings in our database where commission data is present, the average commission rate is 34.2%. Rates range from 10% (ESET UK on CJ) to 75% (PrivateVPN on CJ). VPN subscriptions are low-ticket items — NordVPN’s average basket on Skimlinks is $43 — so high percentage rates translate into modest flat amounts per sale. Incogni on CJ explicitly pays a flat $30 per sale, which provides more earnings predictability than a percentage of an unknown basket size.
Do VPN affiliate programs have long cookie windows?
Most do not. The average cookie across programs that report one is 31 days, and many of the largest programs on Impact and CJ report no cookie data at all. Among programs with reported cookie data, ESET Netherlands on Awin offers 45 days — the longest in the current dataset for this vertical. The standard 30-day window appears on Awin listings for NordVPN. Skimlinks programmes tend to run shorter: NordVPN 11 days, Abine 1 day.
Which security programs have the best conversion rates?
Among programs with reported conversion data, excluding the statistical outlier of Kaspersky Denmark at 66.7%, IObit on Skimlinks leads at 9.3% (flagged as outside the vertical norm). ESET Netherlands on Awin converts at 6.4%, Shellfire VPN (Awin DE) at 6.2%, Abine on Skimlinks at 5.7%, and Bitdefender Germany on Awin at 4.0%. Most programs cluster between 1% and 4%.
What is the ghost rate for VPN affiliate programs?
54.0% of the 235 listings in our database have no EPC figure — they are active programs with published terms but no performance transparency. If you are evaluating a program that lacks EPC data, look for the same brand on a different network. NordVPN, Surfshark, Kaspersky, ESET, Bitdefender, and PureVPN all publish better data on Awin or Skimlinks than they do on some of their other network placements.
Should I promote NordVPN or Surfshark?
Both offer 40% commission and are available on multiple networks. NordVPN’s best verified EPC is $1.06 on Awin US & CA (3.4% conversion). Surfshark’s best verified EPC is $0.68 on Awin DE/AT (2.5% conversion). On Skimlinks, where reversal data is available, Surfshark carries a 10.3% reversal versus NordVPN’s 6.1%. NordVPN has the marginal advantage in confirmed per-click earnings and lower chargeback exposure. Audience geography matters more than the brand choice: Surfshark has stronger Awin performance in the DACH market; NordVPN is more consistently documented in English-language markets.
Methodology
This analysis covers 235 VPN & Security affiliate program listings across 98 brands and 9 networks including Skimlinks, Awin, CJ, Impact, FlexOffers, Rakuten, and others. Performance data (EPC, conversion rate, reversal rate) is pulled from network APIs and updated regularly. Commission rates reflect default publisher tiers — negotiated rates may differ. Programs with no performance data (“ghost programs”) are excluded from averages but included in total counts. Ghost rate: 54.0% (127 of 235 listings). Last updated: August 28, 2026.
